Congratulations and Thanks

MDM2010 is over and it left behind a number of success stories, happy moments, meeting of new and old minds, meeting of friends, and great academic fun. I thank all officers who put their effort and time to make it a successful event. In particular, I thank our co-pc chairs Demetris and Takahiro for raising the academic quality of this conference with quality research papers and our general chairs Christian and Sanjay for using their charismatic touch to bring keynote speakers such as Dr. M. Satyanarayanan of Carnegie Mellon University, USA and Mr. Jon Jones of Air Force Research Lab, Rome, NY, USA. The conference was enthusiastically supported by Dr. Virender Singhal and by companies Burns and McDonnell, Commerce Bank, Garmin, Holliday Inn on the Plaza, IBM/Informix and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). Our invited speaker Mr. John Blakeney of Commerce Bank taught us how we can secure our money in the bank to enjoy a happy retirement!

I congratulate the winners of best paper award. The best paper award went to Goce Trajcevski (Northwestern University, USA), Alok Chouhdary (Northwestern University, USA), Ouri Wolfson (University of Ilinois, Chicago, USA), Gang Li (Northwestern University, USA), and Ye Li (Northwestern University, USA) for their paper titled Uncertain Range Queries for Necklaces and runner up in best paper category to Chengyang Zhang (University of North Texas, USA) and Yan Huang (University of North Texas, USA) for their paper titled Low Cost Region Detection from Distributed Sensor Observations. We also awarded PhD Forum presentations, Poster presentation and Demos. Oleg and Mohamed organized a very high quality submissions and presentations.

Like other MDM2010anans, I am also taking some rest that includes emptying my brain. Arkady brought his huge backpack to carry MDM2010s younger brother MDM2011 to Lule University of Technology, Sweden, close to the Arctic Circle. It is an excellent place so let us go there!
