The School of Computing and Engineering (SCE) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2015 ASCE/AISC National Student Steel Bridge Competition (NSSBC)! The event will be held May 22–23, 2015 with an estimated attendance of over 50 engineering schools bringing teams to compete.

As hosts, SCE aims to highlight the very best that Kansas City has to offer; a thriving engineering community, an exciting downtown, a great engineering school, and of course, our famous Kansas City barbecue. As part of the event, we will be debuting the first annual Kansas City engineering barbecue championship. Stay tuned for details.

At UMKC, we believe that hands on extracurricular activities, combined with friendly inter-collegiate competition, is vital in making engineering a uniquely gratifying field of study and occupation.

The purpose of the NSSBC is to provide an opportunity for future engineers to engage in a comprehensive project experience to supplement their education. Incorporating student projects and creative activities is a principle that SCE highlights and actively encourages. Our goal is to create a vibrant learning and campus life environment through innovative educational programs, industry interactions, student projects, and interdisciplinary experiences. The end result of this focus produces opportunities for students to grow in leadership and professionalism, while learning to understand and solve community, national, and global issues.
